What cookies are
A cookie is a small file a website asks your browser to keep. Some are essential — without one, your cart would empty the moment you opened a second page. Others are optional and exist so we can measure what is working. This page covers both, plus the closely related technologies we use in the same way: localStorage and IndexedDB, which the store uses to keep a guest cart and an offline copy of your recently viewed pieces on your own device.
Categories we use
Strictly necessary. Sign-in sessions, cross-site request forgery protection, your cart, and the record of your cookie choice itself. These cannot be switched off, because without them the store does not function. We do not ask for consent to set them, which is what the ePrivacy Directive permits for cookies that are strictly necessary to deliver a service you requested.
Analytics. Google Analytics 4, used to understand which pages and products lead to an order — page views, product views, add-to-cart, and completed purchases. This is the category that tells us whether an article we wrote actually helped anyone. Enabled by default in the United States and Japan; elsewhere, off unless you turn it on. A saved rejection overrides the regional default.
Marketing. Attribution for advertising — connecting an ad click to an eventual order so we know which campaigns pay for themselves. Off unless you turn it on. When you turn it on, this includes the Meta Pixel: it tells Meta Platforms (Facebook / Instagram) which pages and products you viewed, what you added to your cart, and completed purchases (order value and product IDs), so we can measure and improve our ads on Meta. Meta may use this to show you our ads. It is never loaded on account, sign-in or order-recovery pages, and it stays off if your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal. When an order is paid, our server also reports that purchase to Meta (Conversions API: order value, product IDs and your email, phone and shipping address in hashed form) so it is counted even if the pixel was blocked. For orders shipped to the United States this happens unless you rejected marketing cookies or your browser sent a Global Privacy Control signal; everywhere else it happens only if you turned marketing on. We do not sell your personal information.
The Pinterest tag runs only after you explicitly consent to marketing cookies; it is off by default and stops when GPC is active. To measure advertising, Pinterest receives public pages you visit, product IDs you view or successfully add to your cart, and product IDs, quantities, USD value, and order ID for paid purchases. We do not intentionally send customer contact information. Withdraw consent in Cookie Settings.
How your consent is actually applied
This is worth stating precisely, because a great many sites do it the other way round. Before any analytics script is requested, our pages send a default consent state of “denied” for advertising storage, advertising user data, ad personalisation and analytics storage — Google's Consent Mode v2 signals. We then check your country using our hosting provider. If you have not saved a choice, analytics is enabled by default only in the United States and Japan. In the EU, UK, other countries, and when the country cannot be determined, analytics stays denied until you choose otherwise. Marketing always stays denied until you allow it.
Your saved choice takes priority in every country. Rejecting optional cookies stops our analytics events immediately. Regional defaults are not saved as if you had accepted them, and you can change your preferences at any time.

Analytics cookies may appear by default in the United States and Japan, or after you allow analytics elsewhere. A saved rejection prevents our analytics events in every region.
Changing or withdrawing your choice
Use the button below to reopen the preferences panel at any time. Withdrawing consent takes effect immediately for anything loaded afterwards; cookies already set by a category you have now refused can be removed with your browser controls, below.
Browser controls
Every major browser lets you view, block, and delete cookies for a specific site, independently of anything we do. Look for “Cookies and site data” under Privacy settings in Chrome, Edge and Firefox, or “Manage Website Data” in Safari. Blocking strictly necessary cookies will stop the cart and sign-in from working — that is a limitation of how the web works, not a choice we made.
